"good bbq and good value overall.
we had the ribs and pulled pork. really, really good.
ribs - cooked well. nice crust and smoke ring.
pulled pork - one of the best. i think hawaiians make the best pulled pork. flavor was superb, and had a nice sweet finish to them.
when it comes to bbq, it's really subjective, and a lot of times it comes down to the sauce. the sauce at fat daddy's had a good balance of sweet, sour, and salty, and didn't taste overwhelming.

They have a homemade keylime pie that's really good as well. i'm not an expert on keylime, but it had a great balance of tart and sweet with a nice graham cracker crust.

BBQ can be expensive, and everything on maui is expensive. but Fat Daddy's is a good value for a bbq place on Maui."

YUMMY! Just finished eating take out from Fat Daddy's and it was GOOD! We were at Kam 4 all day and just wanted to grab something to take home. I called before leaving the beach and it was ready in 15 minutes! I ordered 2 full racks, brisket, 3 sides and cornbread and that took care of 5 adults and two children and there is left overs. The meat was falling off the ribs they were soooo tender. The sauce was really good too. Sometimes it's hard to find BBQ sauce that isn't too overpowering and this was it. I would definitely suggest trying this place. You won't be sorry!

This place is love! Toby, "the wife," and the bartender Billy were SO nice (I got petted) and they really care about barbecue! I had the Bradda plate with two meats and two sides. Not a huge portion, just about right. I liked the brisket best but the pulled pork was tasty too. Pretty good BBQ sauce. We're coming back for ribs!!! The beef and pork both come from Maui and they don't do chicken. I LOVED the macaroni and cheese. It was so creamy! Not at all like the disappointing mac and cheese I get at BBQ places back home. The beans were pretty "Texas style", not sweet at all. Newcastle on tap and Spaten by the bottle.

Update: Got a slab of ribs to go. Ribs were AWESOME! Sorry about the carpet Susan. Ribs were falling off the bone but the top side was smoked just right so they were good and chewy!!! I appreciated the BBQ sauce much more this time than the first time. Good and Tangy just the way I like it. Good corn bread. One of the locals was eating corn on the cob while we waited. It was dripping in butter and looked fantastic! Cool T-shirts too!!!

Damn good 'q..There was a post that said the meat was "too smokey". If you know anything about this kind of food thats what its about. This isn't one of those phoney joints that cooks the meat then pours some kind of drippy "special secret" sauce over it..All done right. Top end chili that isn't hott sauced to death. Full of actual real meat, not garbage fillers from the end of the chop block. Pulled pork is 10 stars. This is a smallish place. No acres of tables. Quite original. Unique for a resteraunt in the middle of
tourist-ville. Good value too for the bucks you lay out. Not a three figured meal here. Far from it. Nothing hacks me off more than some idiotic theme place thats designed to suck visitors of every breakfast, lunch and dinner buck on them. Kihei has a lot of them too. I hope Fat Daddys holds it together and keeps the place from going glitz...A nice place to escape from all the flower shirts and alohas..

If you somehow get tired of eating fresh fish on Maui, visit this little place for Texas-style BBQ ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and chili plus Newcastle Brown Ale on tap served in giant frosted mugs. The brisket, pulled pork, and baby-back ribs that I tried were all really good. The brisket had a nice smoke ring, and was tender, but not falling apart. I liked the watercress salad, it was fresh, crunchy, and something different. The key lime pie was the only choice for dessert, but it was delicious.
